SHEP’s Connection Corner

June 2025

What's the scoop?!

Not so bad, Not so Bad!
June is here and it actually hasn't been that hot. Uh oh...did I jinx it? Here we are entering the warmer days yet cool nights. You know what that means...tornado season is upon us again. Line up preparation on what to do in the case of a storm and ensure your alerts are working. If you have questions or even want to offer advice we can share to the community, please contact us.
While we may think physical storms like the thunderstorms and tornadoes, there may be storms in your spiritual life as well. While our gatherings are light hearted and don't really hit the nitty gritty of what you may be battling in your life, it definitely helps lift the spirit to congregate and be around people that genuinely care about you and want to get to know you better. SHEP is an empowerment organization to encourage you that you CAN do what you put your mind to. Cassandra speaks often on having a can do attitude. Here're some bible scriptures to nab and hold to your heart.

Luke 8: 23-25 says this about those storms:
23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.
25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement, they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
You are not forgotten. What do you believe you can do? It starts there.
We want you! We love you and cherish each of you. This summer we planned some events to get us out in the fresh air with fun times. The agenda is packed! June we have a hotdog social lined up and July we are having a IamDB nature trail walk in Scissortail park. August we plan to hold our very first CLEET certification class for first responders! You heard that right! That's the sound of our first responders becoming more aware and have increased training on how to inclusively keep the community safer and how to respond calmly and with knowledge of how to better serve the DB community members.
We also have some SSP trainings coming up, as well, to grow our team. Details are below for all the events!

Riddle me this:

Why did the whale blush
 It saw the ocean’s bottom.

Why do bananas wear sunscreen?
Because they peel.

Challenge of the Month:
Have plants? Share information on how you grew them, take care of them, and/ or send up a pic.

Did you know:
-It’s illegal to feed pigeons on the sidewalks and streets of San Francisco?
-An astronaut, Harrison Schmitt of the Apollo 17 mission,  was allergic to the moon?
-Viking men wore makeup?
-You can get your eyeballs tattooed?
-The letter  "Q" is the only letter that doesn't appear in any U.S. state name?

We'd love to hear from you!
